There was a nice display of meteors during the OTSP. Some sporadic and some from the minor meteor showers going on. Yet one meteor outshined them all. A bolide happened around 2:24 2:19 CDT Tuesday morning. It was spectacular. Lighting up the entire area for a moment. Wow.

Wow, wow, wow! I just got back from my first big "star party" -- the 25th Okie-Tex Star Party that was held in the Black Mesa area of the Oklahoma panhandle. It was a 9 hour drive from Big D but totally worth it. I tent camped for 4 days under some of the darkest skies in the country... and the weather was perfect! It was incredible. I saw stuff I've never seen before... like the Zodiacal light and the Gegenschein (more about those later). An excerpt From J0hn Davis' blog. Read the rest here
If you ever have a story to tell, a star party like this one is the place to do it. I had a blast and hopefully those 30 or so individuals who attended my talk will have more inspiration to do some of the AL programs they might not have selected before listening to me.
